I know Canada doesn't really make it onto the global radar much, but recently Prime Minister Stephen Harper decided to close our embassies in Iran and call back all diplomats. This is mainly due to Iran's support for the Syrian regime and because Iran does not recognize dual citizenship (and is holding some Iranian Canadians).  So, what do you think?  Is Canada right to make this move?

In other news, the American election is officially underway.  I'm going to be honest and say I have a bias toward Obama.  Not only do I think he's the man for the job, the thought of Mitt Romney as president, who represents the soft republicans, is horrifying to me.  He made some of his millions through leverage buyouts, which is the sort of shadow economy transactions that led to the recent global economic crisis IMO. He also has hidden away some of his profits in the Cayman Islands and in Swiss Bank accounts.  Can he really understand what the average American needs?  Anyway feel free to debate.  We have supporters for both parties in the ideological gallery.

BTW:  I want to apologize for any submissions that might have expired before I could get to them.  It's summer....  If your work didn't get in please resubmit.

Looks like Canadia has some things going on, too. I think I'll stay neutral on that subject for now, until I can see the information presented from both viewpoints. (I'm not implying you have any sort of bias; I just want to read more into it before I start raging about things. After all, I'm trying not be a demonstration of the classic 'American Idiot' everyone seems to see.)

On another note, the sad thing about our election is that while Obama has the African-American vote, most of the LGBT vote, the elderly vote, and the welfare vote, there are enough strait, white, Christian men in my country that are saying, "Man, Romney sure knows how to fix things up!" that he may very well win. I can't stand Romney's views on women. If he got elected into office, people like me could very well be threatened either by law or by the Rebublicans as a whole (It's not like I have many options in the first place.) I am, of course, voting for Obama, but I hope that the Gay Marriage laws in Kentucky will improve a bit with Obama in office.

And, my rant is over.
